Vijay Mallya will get one final chance to defend himself in the money laundering case.

New Delhi: Fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya has one last chance to defend himself in a money laundering case before the country's Supreme Court. Mallya has been given until February 24 to appear in court. The Supreme Court had already ordered the government to consider deferring legal proceedings against fugitive businessmen such as Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya in order to facilitate their homecoming.

The Supreme Court has given fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya one last chance, ordering him to appear before it on February 24. This is Vijay Mallya's last chance to defend himself before the court, according to the decision. It may be remembered that just a week ago, the Supreme Court advised the government to consider letting fugitive businesspeople who are prepared to pay the money to return to India and halting the legal processes against them.

The legal action will take several years, according to a bench of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and M M Sundaresh, and the agencies may or may not be successful in bringing back the absconding businesspeople. If the fugitive businesspeople agree to return the money in this case, the government may consider providing them with security. It's also possible that they won't be detained when they return to the nation.
